Katherine emigrated from England when she was 11. She has a background in music and sport. She has been painting since completing her BFA at Elam School of Fine Arts, University of Auckland in 1996.

In 1998 she attended Auckland Teachers College in Epsom. Katherine was a finalist in the Norsewear Art Award in 2001 and has work in personal collections and the University of Auckland. She enjoys being a part of the Akepiro Studios Collective.

Katherine often works with opposites. Contrast of tone and colour. Scale of markmaking. She learnt from the abstract expressionists such as Franz Klien and layering from Richard Diebenkorn.

Working passionately on her painting is where its at for Katherine.
